Bernard Miller attended law school at New York University and became a Trial Attorney, practicing for over 30 years in Portsmouth, Va.

Joseph's maternal Grandparents in Norfolk, Virginia, Sydney and Adele Ashe, of Blessed Memory, were former proprietors of a popular Jewelry Store in the lobby of the old Golden Triangle Hotel in downtown Norfolk known as Ashe Jewelers, for many years.  Sidney Ashe, a native of St. Gallen, Switzerland,  was one of 13 siblings, and he was also a professional boxer and enjoyed a short but successful career in that sport.

He began snow skiing at the age of 7 years old, an activity which he enjoys until this day.

Around the age of 15, Mr. Miller picked up a guitar, and began to sing professionally in a local band called "The Steppes, " covering the pop tunes of the day.  Over the next 20 years, Mr. Miller appeared in a succession of several other rock bands, eventually taking over the duties of rhythm and lead guitar. He also played professionally as a solo acoustic artist in numerous bars, restaurants, and coffee shops throughout the Hampton Roads area, and once opened for the rock band "America" and later, Leon Russell.

Mr. Miller attended Oxford College, and then Emory University, in Atlanta Georgia with a Pre-law focus, majoring in Political Science and Philosophy, graduating with a B.A. from Emory in 1984.

Mr. Miller joined his father's Law Firm, Miller and Bondurant, Ltd. , in 1988, representing primarily injured railroad workers under the Federal Employee's Liability Act. His duties as Trial Attorney took him to numerous locales for depositions and Trials throughout the Southeast United States, to places like Savannah and Americus, Ga., Mobile, AL, Rocky Mount, Wilmington, Rockingham, Hamlet, Laurinburg, and Charlotte, N.C. , Jacksonville, Fl, Spartanburg, Charleston, Marion, and Florence, South Carolina, as well as Chattanooga, and Nashville, TN.

Mr. Miller's brother, Dan Miller, is also an attorney and heads the Law Firm of Miller & Regan & Associates, with offices in Virginia Beach and Newport News, VA. Dan practices primarily Criminal, Traffic, and Domestic Relations Law throughout the Hampton Roads area.

In 1999, Joseph Miller left his father's firm and founded the Law Firm of Accidental Injury Advocates, Ltd. where he continued representing injured Railroad Workers, and where he also expanded his practice to include representation of all injured people, wrongful death cases, and Virginia and North Carolina Workers Compensation, with the main offices in Norfolk, Va, and a satellite office in Elizabeth City, N.C.
